President and CEO
Mr. Cartmell joined SGI as President and CEO in August 2009. Before joining SGI, he worked for a number of Canadian property and casualty insurance companies in a variety of roles, including underwriting, actuarial, product management and regional/branch operations.
Mr. Cartmell holds a Bachelor of Mathematics (honours) and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) LIMRA Leadership Institute Fellow (LLIF) and a Chartered Director (C. Dir). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Facility Association as well as 3sHealth (Health Shared Services Saskatchewan).
Vice President, Customer and Distribution Strategy
Ms. Bloom began her SGI career in 2007 with a temporary term in Human Resources and moved to a permanent role as Manager of Broker Services later that year. In this role, she led the development and implementation of Broker eService solutions which provided brokers with the ability to electronically send submissions to SGI. In 2012, she led the team awarded the Insurance Canada Technology Award for the implementation of eDocs (the ability to electronically send policy cover pages in PDF format to a broker's system). She remained in that role until 2012 when she moved to her current role as Vice President of Customer Strategy. Due to Ms. Bloom’s extensive prior experience with broker partner relations, she was recently assigned responsibility for SGI’s distribution function as well.
Ms. Bloom has her Executive Masters in Business Administration. She previously ran a community kitchen for the mentally disabled for over 7 years and is a regular volunteer with the MS society.
Executive Vice President, Auto Fund
Mr. Cameron began his career with SGI in 1973 as a Clerk in the Underwriting division, and then held various positions as an adjuster in the Claims division. He became a Senior Marketing Representative in Major Accounts in 1981, returning to Claims in 1984 as a Supervisor, Commercial Claims. He became the Manager of Head Office and Regina Northwest Claims in 1989, and the Assistant Vice President of Urban Claims in 1993. Mr. Cameron was appointed to the position of Vice President of Claims and Salvage in April 1997 and in February 2012 moved to his current role of Executive Vice President, Auto Fund. From late 2008 to mid-2009, Mr. Cameron also served as Acting President.
Mr. Cameron is an executive member of the Honourable Order of the Blue Goose, President of Safe Saskatchewan, past President of Regina Crime Stoppers, Board Member of CCMTA and past appointed Member of the Regina Crime Prevention Commission.
Vice President, Strategy, Marketing and Communications
Ms. Cross started her career with SGI in 1996 as Manager, Communications. She was appointed to Acting Assistant Vice President, Communications in 1999 and in 2000 returned to her position as Manager, Communications. She became Manager, Corporate Affairs and Strategic Planning in 2008, and Assistant Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Planning in 2010. In December 2015, she was appointed to her current position of Vice President, Strategy, Marketing and Communications.
Ms. Cross holds a Bachelors of Journalism and Communications. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Regina Humane Society and New Dance Horizons. She also served on the Advisory Committee for Big Sisters of Regina.
Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Ms. Erhardt joined SGI in 1995 as the Supervisor, Job Evaluation and Classification. In 1996, she became the Supervisor of Industrial Relations, and then the Manager of Employee Relations in 2000. She was appointed to the position of Assistant Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Services in 2006. In 2009, she was appointed to her current position of Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer.
Ms. Erhardt holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters of Business Administration, is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and has a Certificate in Mediation Services and a Certificate in Industrial Relations. She is a member of the Saskatchewan Association of Human Resources Professionals and the Conference Board of Canada’s Council for Human Resource Executives, West.
Senior Director, Corporate Affairs
Ms. Hambleton joined the Communications department of SGI in 2001. In 2005, she became the Supervisor of Communications, and two years later the manager. She continued in her role as Manager of Communications until 2013 when she was appointed to her current role of Senior Director of Corporate Affairs. She joined SGI’s Executive Management team in 2015.
Ms. Hambleton has a Bachelor of Journalism and Communications degree from the University of Regina.
General Counsel, Legal
Mr. MacLeod has been with SGI since 1985 when he joined as a solicitor. Since then he’s moved through various roles in the legal department and a stint as Manager for Regina South Claims, to his current position as General Counsel for Legal.
Mr. MacLeod received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan in 1982, before that he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from the University of Regina in 1979.
Currently, he’s an active member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers’ Association, Canadian Bar Association, the Honourable Order of the Blue Goose International and is a member of the Research Ethics Board for the Regina Qu’Appelle Health District. He was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2011.
Executive Vice President, Claims and Salvage
Ms. McCune has been with SGI since 1985, starting her career as a junior clerk in the Auto Fund division and moving up through the ranks to the position of Vice President. In 2015, she was appointed as Vice President of Customer and Distribution Strategy. Ms. McCune has worked in and overseen various areas of both Auto Fund and SGI CANADA operations from Salvage to Auto Fund Rate Programs, Corporate Relations to Canadian Operations over the years, including a temporary role as Chief Operating Officer of Coachman Insurance. This wealth of diverse company knowledge and experience led to her latest appointment of Executive Vice President, Claims and Salvage.
This Regina native has been busy out of office over the years as well, having earned a Bachelor of Administration and Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation along the way. For 20 years, Ms. McCune volunteered as a member of the Board of Directors of the Regina Humane Society, including more than 10 years as president. She also initiated a partnership with the City of Regina that resulted in Regina’s first off-leash dog park.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer/Chief Risk Officer
Mr. Stepan joined SGI in August 2008 as Treasurer, and became the Chief Financial Officer in November 2010 with the Chief Risk Officer responsibilities added in 2013. Prior to joining SGI, Mr. Stepan spent 17 years as an institutional investment consultant with Hewitt Associates and its predecessor company James P. Marshall, Inc. where he consulted to clients in the pension, endowment and insurance sectors. In addition to his duties as a Senior Consultant, Mr. Stepan managed the Regina office.
Mr. Stepan is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Saskatchewan Healthcare Employees’ Pension Plan and Chair of the Investment Committee for the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation. Mr. Stepan is a member of the Financial Executive International, Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Saskatchewan, the CFA Institute and the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and is an avid volunteer with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, SGI CANADA
Mr. Thompson joined the Finance department of SGI in August 1989. Mr. Thompson became a Manager in 1995, Corporate Controller in 1999 and Assistant Vice President in 2001. He was appointed Vice President of Finance in 2004, Vice President of Product Management in 2011 and to his current role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of SGI CANADA in 2015.
Mr. Thompson is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Mr. Wells joined SGI in April 1992. He became the Manager of Systems in 1994, the Assistant Vice President of Systems in 2001, and was appointed to his current position of Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer in 2004.
Mr. Wells holds a Diploma in Applied Arts in Data Processing. Prior to joining SGI, he worked in systems roles with Esso Chemical Canada in Alberta and Ontario, Digital Equipment Canada in Regina, and was a partner in a systems consulting company in Regina.
