SGI CANADA is the trade name of the property and casualty insurance division of Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) which offers products in more than half of Canada's provinces. It operates SGI CANADA in Saskatchewan, SGI CANADA Insurance Services Ltd. in Alberta and Manitoba, the Coachman Insurance Company in Ontario and is a partner in the Insurance Company of Prince Edward Island in the Maritimes. Products are sold through a network of independent insurance brokers.
The company employs about 1,900 people and has its head office in Regina where its president, executive and management teams are headquartered.
SGI CANADA's board of directors is responsible for setting direction, monitoring and reporting achievement, along with analyzing, evaluating and taking corrective action for the corporation. The board is responsible for the stewardship of the corporation in general terms. In meeting this responsibility, the board works with management to develop and approve the corporation’s strategic plan, operating goals, annual budget and business plans. It participates in identifying business risk and overseeing the implementation of appropriate systems to achieve a balance between the risks incurred and potential returns.
SGI CANADA is a provincial Crown corporation wholly owned by the Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan.
