Non-owned driver's coverage

If you drive vehicles that you don't own, like a borrowed or a rental vehicle, this coverage will help protect you in the event of an accident.

At no additional cost, it automatically provides you, your spouse and the children in your care with coverage while driving a vehicle you don’t own.

How it works

Non-owned driver’s coverage matches the coverage you purchased for your own vehicle - you pay the same deductible and receive the same benefits. This is especially important when you rent or borrow someone else’s vehicle - or when you give permission to someone else to use that vehicle.

For instance, the coverage will protect you if the owner only has basic license plate insurance. Expensive rental insurance would not need to be purchased providing you have chosen both collision and comprehensive coverages.

You may also be responsible for downtime charges resulting from damage to a rental vehicle. Consider purchasing Loss of Use coverage. It protects you from charges that may be assessed because the damaged vehicle can't be put back in service.
