Keeping up with change

You should keep in mind that some of the changes you make to your dwelling may affect your insurance coverage and premiums. That’s why it’s important to review your insurance needs regularly with your insurance broker.

With this in mind, please take a few moments to complete the following checklist. If you have completed one or more of the changes listed below, we suggest you contact your insurance broker to discuss whether you have adequate coverage. Your broker will be happy to discuss deductible options, as well as our premium payment option plans.

Your broker can also help determine if you qualify for Homeowner’s Guarantee protection.

  1. What’s new at your dwelling(s)?
  2. Have you made any renovations or additions?
  3. Have you made any upgrades to the roofing, plumbing, heating or electrical systems?
  4. Have you installed additional heating sources?
  5. Have you installed a swimming pool, hot tub or sauna?
  6. Have you had your dwelling recently appraised for replacement value?
  7. Have you acquired additional dwellings or a seasonal dwelling?
  8. Have you installed a security alarm system?
  9. A 24-hour monitored alarm system may make you eligible for a premium discount.
  10. Do you require additional voluntary fire protection coverage?
  11. What’s new with your personal belongings?
  12. Have you acquired additional high-value personal belongings, such as furs or jewelry?
  13. Have you acquired watercraft or other personal recreational vehicles?
  14. What’s new in your family?

  18. Do you operate a business from your dwelling?
  19. Do you or a family member operate a daycare?
  20. Do you live on an acreage? If so, have you acquired additional buildings, machinery or livestock?
  21. Your age and number of years continuously insured with SGI CANADA may qualify you for a discount.
